Men’s Retreat 2018

At our second annual Men’s Winter Retreat at Spruce Lake, about 15-20 men of Hope convened to explore a new series on Authentic Manhood. We kicked off the weekend by watching the hit movie, Courageous and then dove deeper into the Authentic Manhood video curriculum based on the God’s design for us a King, Warrior, Lover, and Friend. The goal was to set men up to live lives of truth, passion and purpose.

Many men lack clarity about what it truly means to be a man. As a result, MANY MEN ARE IN A STATE OF CONFUSION. They end up disappointed with life and find themselves lonely and drifting. They’re comparing and competing, focused mainly on trying to keep up with everybody else. Too many guys don’t know how to answer the question … “who am I as a man?” … and they end up settling for a “less-than” life. They don’t have a compelling manhood vision that is bigger and more meaningful than the conventional manhood that much of the world seems to be chasing.

Rob Albert helped us eat like Kings. Leo and Pete led worship throughout the weekend. All were engaged in some competitive games, such as Settlers, as well as volleyball, which helped us build bonds for a stronger relationship with each other and with God.
